Series episodes and episode 00

Love the automatic division of series episodes into seasons. However, many seasons have an episode 00, which is currently not recognised as part of a season.

Same on iOS

Welcome both of you to the forum!

Infuse will handle special episodes by using the season 0 naming. for example if you have a series that has a special or “00” episode you would name the file something like

“Star Trek S00E01.mkv”

The Season 00 would indicate a special and then the episode number would refer to the special number as referenced in TVDB. You can go to TVDB and check the specials for the shows you have questions for.

Probably that’s the case for the US TV series. But for lots of Japanese anime, there is an “Episode 0” at the start of the season which is not actually a special Episode.

Welcome to the forum!

Can you provide an example?

The Japanese anime Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata use Episode 0 as its first episode.

Probably this is a special case, but sometimes japanese anime will use episode 0 instead of episode 1 as the first episode in season.

You have to use the episode numbers that TVDB uses for it to pull the correct metadata and if you look at this series “Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata” on TVDB it doesn’t have an episode “00”.

If you look at the “Specials” for this series you may find you’re episode “00” listed there and then you’d just label those the same as TVDB

I see.

So is that basically means I have to manage my tv series and anime based on the way tvdb uses?

It make sense when infuse use tvdb to obtain info of the series and episodes.

Thank you again for answering the questions

Correct, that’s a pretty standard way of naming tv shows so it should be pretty stable.

You welcome! :+1:
