Apologies if this has been covered before but when I flip my iPhone I get an icon on screen allowing me to lock the rotation but on my iPad this is missing. Can anyone explain for me how I can get this on my iPad as I can’t find the setting or is it an iPhone only feature?

The iPad version doesn’t include a rotation lock as it interfered with the split-screen multi-tasking workflow which was added in v5.
What you can do is enable the iPad’s native rotation lock to prevent the screen from rotating during playback. This option can be found by swiping up on the Control Center. Rotate the screen on your iPhone or iPod touch - Apple Support
