I know there are alternative ways to connect outside the network like Tailscale, plex etc but plex has a a mess Now, and while I’m using Tailscale, I find the big missing item from infuse is remote access many want to watch their media while travelling, in hotel rooms etc…
Can infuse also be a server so that we can connect remotely?
Honestly the Firecore streaming link is woefully out of date. How many people are using Airports at this point. That said, just use Tailscale. It’s easy to set up and it works flawlessly as we travel to connect Infuse to my Plex server at home. We travel all over the world. Port forwarding is NOT recommended in 2026 given the security issues that will get MUCH worse in a few months with new AI models. I used to use Plex remote access, which still requires opening a port on the router, but Tailscale has solved that and it’s free!
If you own Unifi gateway, one-click VPN works for anything accessing your network assuming you have enough upload speeds to support streaming. This shouldn’t be an infuse problem.
I just tried Tailscale yesterday for fun. Indeed it was a 10min job to get Jellyfin access on a phone. It took me longer to google why the connection wouldn’t complete setting up, didn’t know I had to enable remote access in Jellyfin
