I usually use raw language to display metadata
However, I have noticed that for all the films on tmdb with Cantonese as the original language, infuse always uses English metadata for display instead of traditional Chinese, which has caused me great trouble. How did this issue arise? Can it be corrected as soon as possible? Thank you!
Have you checked to make sure that you have “Original” set for the metadata language option Settings Overview – Firecore Support in settings?
Selecting ‘Original’ will cause metadata and artwork to be fetched in the language of the original release. For example, titles released in France would appear in French, US would appear in English, and Japan would appear in Japanese. This will override the language settings on your device.
In the infuse settings - language - metadata, it has been set to the original language.
In addition, the distribution areas of these films on the tmdb website are Hong Kong, China. In the basic information, the original country is Hong Kong, and the original language is Cantonese.
But the metadata obtained by infuse is all in English, not traditional Chinese.
In addition, I have tried. When I modified the original language of the movie from Cantonese to Chinese on the tmdb website, infuse can obtain the metadata of the Chinese version of the movie. Obviously, this is a problem of the original language and has nothing to do with the distribution area.
In the Infuse settings, Is this where you have “Original” selected as highlighted in the pic?
Also have you tried doing an edit metadata and re-selecting the correct video?
Yes, my metadata is set to the original. I also edit the metadata option and choose the correct cover to try to get the metadata again, but it doesn’t work at all。
My guess is while the original language is tagged as Cantonese, TMDB doesn’t seem to have a translation listed for this and actually doesn’t seem support this as a language choice on the site (though it does support zh-HK and zh-TW). In this case, falling back to English would be expected.
If you were to use the Edit Metadata option and choose Traditional Chinese (TW or HK) as the language to fetch I think you would be able to get the info you are looking for.
Note: You may also check to see if there are any NFO or XML files for this video stored near the video. Infuse would prefer the info in that file over info it fetches from TMDB.
- For these films whose original language is set to Cantonese on TMDB, Cantonese is not included in the translation list, but zh-HK is in the translation list.
- I also reported this issue to TMDB, and the response I received was that it seems to be related to the metadata language acquisition method of Infuse.
- My personal guess is that : when infusing metadata in the original language for these films originally in Cantonese, it found that Cantonese was not listed in the translation list, so it automatically obtained the metadata in English. However, generally speaking, when this situation occurs, infuse should automatically obtain the metadata in zh-HK, as Cantonese is almost equivalent to zh-HK.
- I have not add XML or NFO file,all metadata comes from TMDB.
