Reflection after one year with infuse

A year ago I decided to subscribe to infuse instead of buying infuse 5. That’s one thing I regret today. The only thing I need from the “pro” version is HD sound. I really don’t care about features like syncing with Plex. If I’d bought infuse 5 I would be able to continue using the app, instead now I can’t use it anymore if I don’t go for another year of subscription(new price is way too high). What I will do now is wait for version 6 and probably buy it(meanwhile I’m using free MrMc since that free version includes HD sound).
I really think you should provide a light subscription version for us who plays a movie now and then and is just caring about the sound and who is not willing to pay for features that will never be used.
I was also hoping for Atmos this summer but instead that will be included in version 6, so if I’d bought version 5 I would not get Atmos support anyway.

As I understand it from previous comments from James, the subscription is renewed at the price you originally took it out, not at the current rate for new subscribers.

I’m pretty sure (but not 100% since I’m not an employee of Firecore) that one of the big chunks of the recurring subscriptions is due to the HD audio. I believe that Dolby has a pretty steep initial licensing cost as well as a recurring cost yearly.

I haven’t read anything which says atmos will be included in version 6. To the best of my knowledge it’s still impossible to implement.

Remotevisitor is correct. Your Infuse subscription price is locked in at the rate you originally subscribed, and will never increase.

With a subscription, you’ll receive all future updates (even major releases like v6, v7, etc…) automatically, with no extra costs.

With regard to Atmos, we’ve been working to encourage Apple to implement changes which would allow for apps like Infuse to offer this feature, and a bit more info on ways you can help with this can be found here. Help get (more) Dolby Atmos on Apple TV

Hope this helps!
