I have followed the really easy instruction and jailbroke my ATV2 using seas0npass. While that was cool, can someone answer some basic questions on what seas0pass did?
I was messing around in March, and last had the 5.2.1 official OS on ATV2 according to my notes, then I put ATV2 in a drawer until today. Looks like after JB, I have 5.3 (6105) now, did seas0npass download the latest OS before running JB?
When first running seas0npass, clicked on create ipsw, and it asked me to save firmware siganature, where is the sig actually saved? Can’t find it anywhere…
How do I use the siganature again in the future?
After successful JB, I see there is a Seas0nPass folder in my Documents folder (Windows), there is an ipsw file without SP and one with SP. I guess the one without is the backup before JB and the other is after JB, is that correct?
So when will I need to use these ipsw files again? and how do I chose the SP or the non-SP file?
Is it possible to downgrade to 5.2 for untethered JB? I don’t have anything saved before this…
Yes - this is always the default. It is possible to select a different release by right-clicking the Creat Ipsw option and selecting an earlier one. However the earlier one will only work if you already have saved firmware signature (shsh blob) for that release on your device.

I believe this is on the Cydia servers. You should therefore now have the 5.2.1 and 5.3 signatures saved there.

You can right-click the Create IPSW option and select a release from those you have signatures for to be jail broken even if Apple is no longer signing that release.

Correct.

. If you decide to redo the restore in iTunes. You can shift-click the Restore button in iTunes to select an .ipsw to be restored. The _SP one would give you a jail broken device and the other one a non-jail broken device.

no. You would have to have a saved 5.2 signature for your device for that to be possible.
