Question re: tethered vs. untethered

Hi all,

Considering a purchase. I was just wondering what would be the main difference(s) in functionality gained (or lost) between downgrading to the latest firmware/FC build that supports untethered operation vs. installing the latest revs and operating in tethered boot mode (until the the untethered IOS FW is available).

After browsing the forum for a bit, it seems like having to boot tethered isn’t THAT big of a deal, since there is ‘soft-boot’ functionality that doesn’t require the tether.

Again, I’m just wondering what is the advantage of going with a tethered boot using the latest and greatest. Don’t need a whole lot of detail - I’m not a complete noob to all of this.

Thanks in advance for any info - looking forward to possibly picking this up.

Cheers,

Patrick

Ahhh… just noticed this little tidbit:

Seas0nPass supports a tethered jailbreak of the current 4.4.4 (iOS 5.0.1 - 9A406a) software or an untethered jailbreak of the previous 4.3 (iOS 4.3 - 8F455) software.

So it looks like it is a matter of IOS 4 vs IOS 5. I will keep an eye out for the state of the impending IOS 5 untethered jailbreak…

I guess it isn’t much of an issue either way. IOS 5.0.1 JB today -  W00t!
