Question on Direct Mode default view items

I know this is maybe not something that can be fixed by @james since it’s more related to the Plex/Jellyfin core functionality, but I want to know if people have found a way around this limitation.

I’m considering switching to direct mode but the missing “unwatched” view is a deal breaker for me. Yes, both platforms (Plex and Jellyfin) have filters to limit the view to only the unwatched items, but these filters are not persistent and (at least to the best of my knowledge), can’t be imported to Infuse.

Am I missing something obvious here? Is there a flag I’ve missed? Or all the people who have switched to direct mode have simply watched all their media and don’t care about such a view?

You can pin a smart collection of unwatched movies and tv shows to your plex direct mode Home Screen to get around this.

Thanks for that. I was under the impression that smart collections were a Plex Pass feature only, which I don’t have. I’ll setup a new Plex server and try again

Yep, I was right; according to the Plex support article :

Tip! : The ability to set a collection to appear on the home screen or library Recommended screen is a premium feature and requires an active Plex Pass subscription.

Oh well, back to library mode it is…
