Problem with switching to HDR

Hi,

I just buy an Apple TV 4K and I have some issue with playing HDR content.

My TV Samsung QLED 2018 (QN55Q9FN) doesn’t show HDR logo when I play a MKV HEVC 4K HDR file.

When I set Apple TV setting (video output) to 4K HDR, I see I’m in HDR (HDR logo on my TV), in Infuse menu also but when starting playback, infuse go in SDR (no HDR logo).

When I set video output to 4K SDR, all my files are playng in SDR, Infuse player don’t switch to HDR for files are in HDR.

Any idea ? Any setting for that ?

I’m seeing exactly the same issue with a Sony TV. The TV used to switch into HDR mode correctly when a video is being played, but not anymore. It looks like a bug in Infuse.

Welcome to the forum, and sorry for the trouble.

What type of files are these (Movies, DVR recordings, etc…)?

Can you try playing this Samsung demo file to see if you have any issues with switching to HDR?

Hi James,

I use Infuse for a long time on the iPad Pro and I have never had problems but there with Apple TV 4K is something else…

All my files are Bluray rip and remuxed in MKV container (without encoding) and I noticed something strange, some MKV are working in HDR when I play them through my SMB share but in SDR with my Plex share.

Some HDR files never played in HDR whether via SMB share or Plex share.

All my files are working in HDR when I use another media player like Zidoo X20, so my files are good.

This is an example of my files :

In my case the problem has went away by itself. No settings have been changed, so may be reboot of the Apple TV or the TV has fixed the problem.

Can you try installing today’s 5.9.1 update, and restarting your Apple TV to see if the issue persists?

If the issue is still present, sending in a sample file may help track down what’s going on here.

Video samples can be uploaded here.
