Problem with low speed

Hello, good evening from Spain. How is everything going here?

I’m writing you because I don’t know what else to do. I’ve been unable to play heavy, high-bitrate movies properly for a while now, the wheel starts loading. In other movies it barely buffers, when before it was flying (very, very fast), and after a few minutes the grey bar had already filled the entire bar.

I’ve done a speed test and the Apple TV (4k latest generation) gets 1Gbps, but on Infuse it doesn’t go over 90Mbps, when it always reached much higher speeds.

I have tvOS 18.4 and Infuse updated today too, and the problem persists

How are you connected to your server? SMB, FTP, Plex, Cloud service, etc.

Thanks for responding. I’ve always used SMB, and I always play with Infuse; I don’t use Plex or anything like that. I’ve already set the SMB2 options in Infuse, and it’s still the same. I don’t know if it’s from when I updated to tvOS 18.4 or if it came from before, but I don’t know where to turn now

Are you connected to WiFi or Ethernet?

Can you show a screenshot of the Apple TV infuse speed test?

I’m on cable, and it used to give me much higher speeds, 200/300/400 Mbps, but now it’s stuck at 90 and won’t go any higher. I read files from a Synology NAS, and I’ve always used Samba. I’ve had Apple TV and Infuse for years.

Speed test on my Apple TV :backhand_index_pointing_down::backhand_index_pointing_down:

Have any settings on your Synology changed recently? You may check to see if ‘Transport Encryption Mode’ for SMB has been enabled. This can result in lower speeds as everything needs to be encrypted and then decrypted - which isn’t really necessary for transfers on a local network.

You can also look at setting the SMB version in Infuse to SMB2 as this will avoid any potential encryption.

Lastly, you may check the network cables and hardware and maybe try restarting the NAS and network to see if this helps.

Also, could you run the speed test in Infuse and let it complete for a problem video? with only .36% that’s not much transfer time to evaluate.

Also if you could do a screen cap of the graph after the 100% test.

Hello, good afternoon. I’ve tried everything and I’m desperate. SMB encryption on my NAS has always been set to “client-defined,” but today I tried disabling it and it’s still the same.

I’ve tried everything else, too. Factory resetting the Apple TV, removing and reinstalling Infuse, restarting the router, and restarting the NAS—and nothing works. I have the SMB settings correct, according to that guide.

Are you using Ethernet or WiFi?

100% Graph?

Weren’t you having problems with 4K files? The first one you tested was a 4k file at 61 GB but only did less than one percent. Can’t you run that one again but complete?

Ethernet or Wifi to connect the server and the ATV?

Yes, always everything via Ethernet. You see, I ran a test and got 1GB. It doesn’t matter what file it is, 1080p or 4K, there’s always that 90Mbps limit. Can you see the graph in the first image? The link is crossed out. Can you see both images?

That straight line is very suspicious xdddd

Yes, I saw both images. The reason I asked to see the test run on the 4K was that Infuse may only need the 90 on the 1080. The 4K may show more limits over the longer test.

Have you recently changed any Ethernet cables? I had a similar case and there was an old Ethernet cable that caused it.

Also, what are you using as a server? Is it possible that it is limiting bandwidth to your devices?

Or did you recently add a device to your network? Maybe have just the minimum connected for infuse to work :man_shrugging:t3:

I use a Synology NAS, a 1019+, which works perfectly with other players (Zidoo Z9 8K), and which has always worked perfectly with Infuse. In fact, I’m one of the biggest advocates of Infuse in my country, hahaha. I’ve been using the Synology NAS for years, and I’ve been using Infuse with several Apple TVs of all generations.

I don’t see any limits on my server towards the Apple TV, or I don’t know how to see that issue on my NAS.

and on 5g wifi it goes to 140Mbps. I don’t understand anything anymore.

Wifi 5g

About 145Mbps, but it should be more. Something’s limiting my data reading on the NAS via Infuse. :smiling_face_with_tear:

Good night, it’s midnight here, hahaha

Good afternoon, guys.

Solved!!! The thing is, I have two LANs on the NAS, and I decided to check the connection when I saw that when playing those 90Mbps on Infuse, the NAS showed 10MB/s upload.

As you can see, one LAN was at 100Mbps, and the other at 1000Mbps. For some reason, the Apple TV or Infuse were using the 100Mbps. As soon as I removed the 100Mbps LAN cable, the NAS started to “sing,” hahaha. I reconnected it and everything was fine.

full Infuse test.

Thank you so much for your time and help. Infuse will be with me for many more years, haha.

You’re all doing great work.

If Dolby True-HD, DTS-HD, Atmos (true-HD), and DTS:X (dts-HD) audio ever comes out, it would be the perfect player for a lot of people.
