i recently subscribed to infused, was hoping I will get what i am looking for and i did get it partially, which is the buffering from PLEX player (yes it is way better, i get some buffer, but not as how it is with the plex player). but then the serious issue comes, multi user profiles. i could not get my profiles in PLEX synced, there are some content that are for my kids only and some from the older people, after re-searching, i found suggestion going back to 2017 (i did not want to go aby further) about the multi user profiles, and YTD we are still with planned, so is this really going to happen? how difficult it is to be done that infuse could not do it till date!!!
It seems like there are two features being improperly combined in this thread.
Plex Media Server allows me to create users local to the server. Those users have different views of the media library. At a minimum, I would like to be able to tell Infuse which of those local users to connect as. Instead, when I authorize my Plex account, Infuse is connecting with my admin user and that’s definitely not the behavior I would want.
Second feature: Just like Netflix and other services, it would be nice if each member of the household had a custom / unique experience in Infuse on AppleTV. That is a completely different feature and much more complex and doesn’t really specifically appear on the roadmap.
I feel like Firecore is working on the second feature but not acknowledging requests for the first feature.
@claf Jellyfin allows you to select the default DLNA user… but multiple people use my Apple TV so I’m looking forward to having separate accounts, even if I just have to go to control center and switch the profile to switch the Infuse profile. I hope they’re working on the first one
I just linked my Plex account with Infuse. I’m loving the way Infuse looks but I’m wondering if you can access your different Plex users with Infuse. For example, I have Plex Home and have separate Plex accounts for people in my family on my Plex server. Can this be done or is it exclusive to the Plex app?
I hope and still waiting for Plex Home User support. Its the only reason i dont upgrade to 6 and staying with 5 pro. Its been anounced for some time now (first 5, now 6) but wasnt added yet. Please support it, i have 3 Plex Home users ( me + my 2 Kids) and they cant use infuse because its linked to my main account. I must use the Plex App for these Apple TVs with all its problems!!! Infuse is so simple and without problems to use at home.
The combination Infuse+Plex us just great and works without problems. Plex for library managing and Infuse as player.
Really want this too. My youngest son will be getting an iPad soon and he can’t use Infuse until Plex Home User support is added due to content restrictions.
I use Plex to manage the metadata for Infuse. I have different Plex User accounts for my kids, my wife, and myself to keep our watched statuses separate. We mainly use Plex now, because of this one feature. If you guys could add support for Plex User Accounts, we would use the Infuse player full time, with Plex Serving up the metadata.
The ability to switch user accounts is absolutely essential for my configuration - this application’s ability to lock down content is perfect for my child, but I need the ability to actually be able to switch to her account entirely and prevent media from displaying that might not be appropriate. The lack of this feature is the absolutely only reason why I wont be continuing my subscription - which I’d be more than happy to do should this feature be implemented.
New to Infuse and I 100% agree this is a must have for families. I lock all my child’s accounts within Plex and manage each of their devices with them logged in as them.
Add me to the list of people asking for user support. I don’t want my kids’ half finished episodes of Talespin popping up on my Home feed. Thank you team!
