ATV 4K V7.5
I added plex to infuse (Library Mode) to improve infuse collections. But now I have 2 versions of each movie in the Collection Folder. In Library, I unchecked original movies and all TMDM collections disappeared from Collection Folder. In Library I rechecked original movies and uncheck the Plex movies and all Plex collections disappeared from the Collection Folder.
Did I miss a step, or is this what Infuse is offering.
Just checking, you mean Infuse 7.7.5?
Not a plex user but if youâre going to use Infuse library then I think you can tell plex to not offer TMDB collections. That would give you just the TMDB collections from Infuse. I think your custom collections in Plex would then show in the Infuse Library collections.
What would be your desired results? What is it you want shown? That may help determine how to get what you want.
Hopefully a Plex user can chime in here.
When I go to infuse movie collection, open a TMDB collection, below each movie it shows â2 itemsâ not the movie release date. My movie library shows double the amount of movies.
The movie collection folder when opened shows both the TMDB and the Plex collections as I wanted. I canât get Infuse to merge the results as one copy of each movie.
This is my first use of Plex (which I installed for this feature), but I think the problem is on Infuse side as this is the app I use.
All I was trying to do was create a smart collection which Infuse doesnât offer. I thought what I read said this would work.
Do you have more than one share set up in Infuse?
For example, if you have Plex connection as well as a SMB connection you would see duplicate files and collections as Infuse will treat these as separate files.
If both connections are pointing at the same files you can simply pick one of the connections to use and remove the other.
Years ago I setup Infuse with original movies. I then added plex this week, so I do have two connections. I tried to remove one but that caused other issue.
In Library, I unchecked original movies and all TMDM collections disappeared from Collection Folder. In Library I rechecked original movies and then uncheck the Plex movies and all Plex collections disappeared from the Collection Folder.
Honestly I would be tempted to set up Infuse from scratch if you are planning to run it via Plex. Itâs pretty quick and painless.
The downside obviously being if you then want to go back to running infuse natively you will obviously have to let Infuse scan everything in again.
That said Plex collections with Infuse is currently less than stellar in my opinion. Where in the Plex app we can click on a tab and just see our collections, Infuse only seemingly offers the ability to view all our movie library with collections as part of that.
Hopefully this changes and we get something that offers to show us just our collections or at worst if we get filters at some point then there will be a filter to view collections.
Apparently Infuse connected to Emby & Jellyfin does actually offer a shortcut to collections.
I am curious though when you mention âcollection folder.â What exactly do you mean?
But again regardless, (and this is almost certainly a limitation of how Plex handle collections) it seems that Emby & Jelllyfin are a better way to go. Itâs definitely something I plan to experiment with when I get chance.
If you have both connections set up and Plex is set to use Library Mode, then yes it would be normal to see duplicates.
When using Plex, Infuse will use the metadata and collections provided by the Plex server. When using a regular connecting like SMB Infuse would fetch its own info from TMDB and create its own collections.
You can use either connection or both of them, but may see duplicate collections listed if both are enabled.
One option here would be to disable the auto-grouping of collections in Plex (for collections from TMDB). This would allow you to only have Smart Collections from Plex and then use the TMDB collections in Infuse.
I was trying to get the best of both, since the double issue is a bigger problem, and Plex is more complicated, Iâll have to go back to just infuse and wait for smart collections to arrive.
Another option is to use Plex in Direct Mode.
This would allow you to access Smart Collections on the home screen, and continue to access the items from the regular (non-Plex share) via the current Library categories. When using Direct Mode Plex content would not appear in the Infuse Library.
I switched to direct mode and the smart collections from Plex do not show anywhere. The home screen now shows Plex Recently Added, not Plex Smart collections.
Check out this post for details on how to pin Plex collections to the Home Screen.
Thank you for all the help. Plex is not easy. Got it to work finally.
Only drawback is that I have to scroll to the right to the end to find the âAllâ option. I was expecting it to show on the home screen.
Regarding Emby and Jellyfin, my biggest issue is even though a collections folder is automatically created and can be added to Infuse, the movies that are a part of each collection are still shown in the regular movies folder.
In Emby, the âgroup movies into collectionsâ setting is client specific and Infuse hasnât linked with that yet so the collection movies that show in the regular movies folder are not grouped.
In Jellyfin, the âgroup movies into collectionsâ setting is on the server so those collection movies that show in the regular movies folder are grouped.
I got around this by making a separate collections folder on my hard drive, but it was kind of a pain transferring files that were an addition to a collection. Especially when you have: user1 collections, user2 collections, user1and2 collections, etc.
None of that is the fault of Infuse and I have no idea if there would be a way for the servers to work it so it made more sense.
Ideally, automatically creating a collections folder and then having a setting to âhide collectionsâ in your movie library would be the best option.
Iâve never used Plex so not sure what options they have.
