PLex ATV Black Beta

well i managed to jailbreak my ATV black 4.2.1 (tethered but at least it works)

But now I have ATV installed i can not see an option to install plex ??

I have the same problem, is not Plex pluging to install!!!

The developer of the Plex plugin has ceased work on it, and it is now open source.  So the repo to install Plex is now defunct. You'll have to install it manually, and/or build it yourself.

The Firecore Team should take Plex out of the default features list I believe.

Okay here is what I know so far.... when you jailbrake 4.2.1, install firecore ATV Flash beta 2, then under maintenance install nito tv. Once that is done you have to restart the Apple TV (its a pain as you are thethered)... from there under Nito TV you can install plugings you have to search for plex...

The main issue right now is that awkward is down right now when this link works (http://www.awkwardtv.org/) I am assuming that you will be able to complete the install. this caused plex to fail...

The AwkwardTV wiki is back online at a new address.

Thanks

I have tried a few to install a few of the NitoTv including plex but they all failed

The creator of the PLEX frappliance has updated it to resolve the main show stopping issue wth 4.2.1. The deb apt repository has been updated with the new version. Doing the following via SSH on your machine will update it:

echo "deb http://www.ambertation.de ./downloads/PLEX/" > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/plex.list
apt
-get update
apt
-get install com.plex.client-plugin

This was updated just today, I have tested it myself and it works perfectly.

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
com.plex.client-plugin: Depends: org.awkwardtv.whitelist but it is not installable
E: Broken packages

Help!!!

Just got Plex installed on my tethered JB ATV 2G. Directions from this site:

http://appletvblogr.com/2011/01/how-to-get-plex-running-on-4-2-1-frappliance/

Worked great and first time.

dicx, can you provide some more info for this noob.  Can I use terminal or do I have to use one of the programs they mention (e.g., cyberduck)?

I'm sorry to be such a novice, but I'm looking for some more detailed step by step instructions.

was this with Firecore installed already? The link shows directions for installing nito which is part of firecore right?

thanks

I used Transmit, then terminal. I just used transmit to copy the file over. If you know a terminal command to copy, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

I think it was. I need to do the whole process again because my Netflix app is crashing. Plex might not be stable enough yet or something with ATV Black is causing it to be unstable.
