Please make clearer what TETHERED actually means

Hi,

Yeah, so I fell in the trap that some other people are already rambling about here… made the 5.2.1 jailbreak, it’s only tethered, and I did not realize what it meant. So yes, I am angry about this, but here is my constructive criticism:

Seas0nPass provides a TETHERED jailbreak of the 2nd gen Apple TV running the latest 5.2.1 (iOS 6.1.3 - 10B329a) software that was released on March 19th, 2013.

OK, I read that, TETHERED. Ok. So what is it?

Using Seas0nPass for a 'tethered boot'

Some Apple TV software versions require a tethered boot. This means the Apple TV must be connected to a computer for a brief moment during startup.

So here is my problem. I think this paragraph does not make clear that this is a permanent thing, that you will have to do this every time you startup the aTV. It sounds like it is just another mechanism that is sometimes needed for some technical reason.

If there was a big red box saying "Please be awere that you have to connect a computer to your aTV every time you start it! Use a untethered firmware version instead if you can." - then I would have never done this. Also, when choosing the tethered mechanism in the program it should put out a warning.

Keep in mind that there are places where power outages are a common thing. I live in such a place. In these cases, tethered is not really a good option, and there should be a little bit more warning about this.

Thanks.

I think as someone who is intelligent enough to jailbreak you should be intelligent enough to look up tethered prior should you not know what it means, but also the word it self is self explanatory, it needs to be “tethered” to something.

Also it isn’t some sneaky trap by firecore who provides the software FREE

If a person needs to be spoon fed terms and solutions they should look at paying someone else to jailbreak for them IMHO

Hi There,

I know that tethered jailbreaks are sometimes frustrating because it requires a computer connection to boot a jailbroken Apple TV2. Actually the  concept of a tethered jailbreak has been around a long time ago  but basically it means this: every time your ATV2 reboots or the power has been cut off, you have to connect (tether) your Apple tv2 device back to your computer  so that the hardware can boot with the aid of the jailbreak application such as Seas0ns pass. Seas0nspass will then guide you to do the tether boot .

And i think it would also be  a good idea to have your computer /laptop as close to the tv set as after doing the tether boot the power must not be cut and wait until the white led stay still( not blink)
