Playback and skipping buffering

I am using Ugreen NAS 1Gbps for streaming 1080P/4K movie through SMB. this error happen randomly but I notice that it’s mostly happened whenever I watch some movie (moving from one to another) these playback lagging (rainbow loading) appear for like 20 seconds before it playing again. Speed test around 400Mbps and with other video player the same movie file just play buttery smooth with no lag at all. Already tried cache streaming to legacy and all SMB version 2,3,legacy. doesn’t work. The only work thing is close the apps and waiting for some hours and reopen it again (instant close and open doesn’t solve it)

It isn’t that your NAS went to sleep, is it? With speeds like that it maybe filled its buffer then stopped requesting data and the NAS went to sleep.

isn’t the app supposed to request (and wake up) upon my NAS so it can receive data without lagging? because the moment Infuse got this error, i immediately tried another video player and it works just fine (Infuse still error at the same moment). even Infuse ios work fine thru wifi with no lag at all, all using same local network

Unless you’re running SSDs in your NAS it can take a bit for a NAS to totally spin up.

What device are you seeing this buffering on?

What version of Infuse are you using and what OS is giving you the issue?

mac mini M2 26.4, Infuse 8.4
I am pretty sure it’s not because of my NAS drive, since this lagging playback keep continue even after the movie has been playing. like if I pause again and play immediately it will buffering again for about 15 seconds, after that it will play that movie normally but if I pause and play again this buffering will occur like before.
Yet at the same moment, all of my other device can stream fine with Infuse ios or other mac video player. Only Infuse mac had this problem

I know this may sound strange but the next time it occurs, tryi restarting your mac. I’ve noticed a lag in file copying on my MacBook to a SMB connected NAS and when it does a restart seems to fix it for a while. It’s allmost like a mmeory leak on the OS keeps building when transfering files until it bogs all transfers down.

yes that’s the only thing works, but I got tired of doing that just to watch my movie :sob: btw for your copy file problem I think you need an app called AutoMounter, that fix my problem on SMB copy file. Now I dont need to restart, my copy speed just normal with that apps running keep the SMB connection stable

here is my diagnostic code: CSM6J
please response my report. this problem still exist in latest version

Can you try installing the 8.4.2 update and let us know if the issue persists?

yes. I did 1 hour ago, however this problem still exist (even happened sooner i guess)

CSM6J also I just submit this diagnostic too
