Play mkv over hard drive attached to router

Hi,

 

I have got dd-wrt installed router and my hard drive directly attached to it. It is running samba server and ftp ofcourse so I can access files from my mbp.

If I copy my mkv files (with srt subs) to my external hard drive attached to my dd-wrt router, can I directly stream these files without running a macbook or an ios device ?

Yes, you can stream directly from any Mac, PC or NAS device using AFP, NFS or SMB. You will not need to go through iTunes on a Mac or iOS device.
