Option to lock or protect settings

Hello Infuse Team,

I have a small (and by now quite urgent ) question:
Is there any way to lock all the settings in Infuse or protect them from being changed?
The background: My father loves Infuse — but unfortunately, he also loves to play around with the settings. I’ve now had to completely set up Infuse from scratch for the 7th time because something got changed.

An “admin lock” or password protection for the settings would be a real lifesaver and would be very kind to my nerves. :see_no_evil_monkey:

Thank you very much for your help!

I’m not sure if it will work for what your asking but have you played with the parental controls?

Ive dug around but I can’t find a thread I vaguely remember about having to enter the parent code to make changes to settings with parental controls enabled.

“Parental controls” as a name work just as well when protecting parents as when protecting children

What goes around comes around.

You use parental controls to keep your kids from watching the Playboy channel and a few years later your kids use parental controls to keep you from watching Face the Nation.

Thank you very much for the tip! :folded_hands:
I actually tested it right away — unfortunately, it didn’t work out quite as I had hoped.
Looks like my dad still managed to outsmart the system once again. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I’m moving this to the suggestions area since I can’t seem to find any request to lock just the settings. Sounds like something other kids may want too. LOL

Thanks a lot for moving it over! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
Seems like I’m not the only one who needs protection from curious hands. Let’s hope the “kid lock” becomes a thing — for both kids… and their parents. :joy::locked:

You can also adjust the ‘Require PIN’ setting from ‘Every Session’ to ‘Every Play’ as this should make things a bit more strict.

What I really need is an option to lock certain parts of Infuse — like playback settings, audio options, languages, and also the Home Screen layout.
The problem is: My father is a true remote control warrior. :person_beard::video_game:
Yesterday he managed to delete the entire favorites section! Yes — everything was gone. Not just hidden — completely vanished. I couldn’t even recover it — I had to fully reset Infuse and start the entire setup process again.

As my library grows, this process takes longer and longer because I also need to correct all the metadata again.

To make things worse:
When I ask him to trigger a simple iCloud sync, he somehow ends up in the library settings, clicks on my PCloud source, and removes the connection by accident — and doesn’t even notice. Next streaming session: “Marcel, Marcel, Infuse is broken!!!” — and I’m back in tech support mode.

I explained it to him 100 times, but talking to him feels like having a conversation with a wall.
Well, the only thing the wall can’t do: get big watery eyes. :joy:

Additionally:
It would be super helpful if the iCloud sync progress could be shown directly on the Home Screen, so we don’t have to dive into the settings every time to see when the synchronization is finished. That would be amazing! :rocket:

Long story short:
A full settings lock option combined with a better sync status display would save me (and probably many others) hours of troubleshooting and many phone calls. :folded_hands:
