Currently, a single tap always opens the “Details” screen. For me who have already set up the library and just want to watch content, this is an unnecessary extra click every single time. On the iPad, the long-press/haptic menu is a slow workaround. A “Direct Play” option would make the iPad experience feel much faster and more modern, similar to how many other media players function.
Please consider this for a future update to speed up the process!
My setup is jellyfin with ipad pro m4, i running through a lot of 4k movies. I just bought the pro version and that single problem kept buggin me too much.
100% for this please,all of my media is STRMLNKS so on the details page you get an Open option which then opens the Apple TV app with the movie details again and then the Play movie option.
If selecting the movie poster takes you straight to the Apple TV movie details it would be one less step
I absolutely disagree with this viewpoint—the elegant posters and film information are precisely what we need; otherwise, Apple TV streaming would not use posters for display. What you truly need may simply be a launcher, and perhaps a more streamlined player like nplay would be more suitable.
the problem with the streamlined player app is that they dont have the streaming cache option, the video wont preload the file so when im on bad signal, skip the video will make it stop for a long time. That is why i suggest to make that as an option to switch on or off so everynody can choose what fit for them.
