Option to bypass the intermediate folder grid/list view when browsing in direct folder mode

I would love to be able to bypass the intermediate grid/list view when browsing folders directly, the same way I can for collections. (Side note: I suggest retitling that collection setting as “Go directly to Details View”.)

When browsing folders directly, the Details view lists all the sibling videos along the bottom — it’s effectively an implicit collection. This is great given how I organize my library (a folder for each movie, with local copies of trailers, featurettes, etc). But having to step through the intermediate grid/list first is less than ideal.

The obvious issue difference is that folders can (and often do) have subfolders, unlike collections. IMO if a folder has a subfolder (any subfolder, regardless of whether it actually contains a video) it’s fine to go ahead and show the grid/list view.

Thanks!

Oh another issue of course is that someone’s media library may have all the videos in the same folder, unlike with a collection. If this behavior had its own setting, and it defaulted to the current behavior, that might be ok, but might want to always show the grid/list if the folder has more videos than some threshold. (Maybe more than seven since that’s how many fit across the bottom of the TV in New and Modern modes.)

The Smart Folders setting sort of does this, but when that’s on I can’t actually get to the other videos in the folder, just the main one: the row of videos at the bottom doesn’t show the movie’s folder contents, instead it shows everything from (the top level of) the favorited SMB share folder.

(Also it doesn’t flatten all my folders. I haven’t been able to figure out why most get flattened but a bunch don’t.)
