Optimize Infuse for Mac local only playback

Dear James and/or other Support,

I use Infuse Pro on my Mac Mini for local playback of 4k MP4 videos on my SSD’s.

I had audio sync issues on VLC hence now using Infuse Pro.

I DO NOT PLAY NETWORK FILES, USE ICLOUD FILES OR STREAMING ON MY MAC.

My question is please can you write down exactly what INFUSE Preferences I should use to OPTMISE Infuse for Local Files playback as described above.

Preferences:
General
Library
Sync
Playback

Thank you kindly

Are you seeing issues when playing back these local files now?

The default settings should be fine for playing most things. The only settings which would really apply to local files would be things like Metadata Fetching (pulling info from TMDB) and Sync (syncing playback progress between devices, if you plan to use more than one device).

Yes James.

What settings should i use then for

Metadata Fetching (pulling info from TMDB) and Sync (syncing playback progress between devices

I don’t need to fetch Meta data online.
I set to Embedded.

I only use infuse on Mac so turned Sync Off.

What else to ensure fastest performance.

It takes along time yo play video in the queue and buffers.

I have a fast M1 Mac Mini and fast Samsung T5/7 SSD’s

Waiting for a reply to my questions still.
Getting frustrated.

Yes after the recent firmware update it takes about 5 seconds of buffering circle before playing any video regardless of video size.

I don’t think doing anything with metadata is really going to affect your playback performance. If you are having problems buffering with a local file then it sounds like a problem with the drive or the files.

It is not the drive, happens 0n my MAC MINI M1 internal drive and all files.

Was much faster before the recent firmware update.

Which firmware did you update and to what version?

Okay, you mentioned having an external drive. Anyways the max mini ssd is should be fine for everything. Can you post a mediainfo of one of your video files? Or you maybe try a fresh install of infuse?

Latest Mac OS VERSION you just released last week

Best way to uninstall infuse?

You said “firmware” so I took that as Mac OS update.

The recent INFUSE update has slowed down this performance.

Delete the app and redownload. Beyond that I don’t know if there are other files you would want to delete.

Because versions change frequently and so that this thread can potentially help others in the future please provide the current version number.

Do you have problems if you play a demo file from here?

Exactly how do i play that?

You can test playback of those videos by following these steps.

  1. Open the download page in a normal web browser
  2. Download one of the videos
  3. Move it to the location where your other videos are stored
  4. Locate the video in Infuse and play it
