Old Plex account credentials keep coming back

I keep running into an issue where Infuse on Apple TV insists on forgetting the Plex library I’ve configured.

I sign in with a specific email address and password and Infuse begins fetching my Plex content.

Some days later, Infuse decides to start using a different account to access Plex, which means users can see libraries they shouldn’t be able to (kids accessing adult content!) and all the Watching info is wrong.

I have to remove the Library and reauthenticate at least once per week, and hope that it’s me who gets there first so the kids don’t find their way to the Hellraiser series.

I’ve disabled iCloud sync on both Apple TVs to make sure that’s not the problem. Even with sync disabled, both Apple TVs are affected.

Is this a known issue with the Infuse Apple TV app? And help would be hugely appreciated!

Plex connections won’t sync via iCloud but they would be included in Cloud Backups.

Cloud backups are set to run every 3 days and if your device is running low on storage it’s possible it may be pulling down an older backup with the out of date credentials.

To resolve this here is what I would try.

  1. Log in with the correct Plex details in Infuse and ensure everything is set up to your liking
  2. Save a new Cloud Backup manually through Infuse > Settings > Cloud Backup
  3. (optional) If you want to test the new backup you can click the Restore Backup option as this would simulate a scenario where the device runs out of space and then restores the latest Cloud Backup
