Not playing smoothly....

Hi.

My apple tv 2 is running latest firmware 4.4.4 and now mediaPlayer 1.3xx (latest), but since i upgraded MediePlayer from v1.1 to v1.2 and now 1.3 (and firmware), I have had problems playing movies smoothly from my Local Synology DS408, also with latest firmware. I Thought i was because i’am running wireless, but today I tested it with wired connection, but no change, still playing, not smoothly.

If I do make same test, same cable, same movie on my Tvix HD Cafe, it plays perfect.

I have tested my apple tv 2 with diff. movies, but no result.

When i go into “movie rent” and choose to play the sample of a movie, it plays perfect.

I have used Seas0npass for Jailbreaking,

Someone having same problem… ??

Could you provide a bit more info and send in a bug report?

Hi.

I’m having the same problem.

Is there any solution to this?

I’ve used the latest Seas0npass today and the latest fireCore.

Same problem here.

The problem seems to have started after i upgraded the firmware to FW 4.4.4.

The problem occurs with both xvid/dvix and mkv/x264 files.

Audio is always perfect but the picture is sometimes litle out of sync and it corrects itself again. This cycles during the whole video. Sometimes you also observe little jumps in the video.

There are no error messages shown.

I stream from a Mac using AFP

I changed to xbmc instead, now it works like a charm

I’m having this problem as well. Also running latest versions for all software.

I did some more investigation and the problems seems to occur only when you have external subtitles.

I played an xvid file with burnt-in subtitles and that played perfectly via the wireless interface. If you play a file with external .srt subtitles the stuttering is present.

I suspected the choppy playback had to do with the fact that I was using WiFi. I installed a cable and run the AppleTV now via wired ethernet. The issue stays: choppy playback.

I did file a bug report already.

James, any news on this issue? Does it reproduce?

Cheers,

Jurgem

im having the same problems…

i can play dvd files fluently, but im having problems with all mkv’s (720p and 1080p)

the movie are skipping a few frames the whole time…

im also connected with an ethernet cable… and streaming from a synology nas.

maybe its an idea to have some sample files that you know that play fluently on the atv flash black…

I have the same problem with different movie files since i think version 1.0 or after upgrading to the last firmware 4.4.4. Every time you release an update i hope you fixed it

But the Problem is still there!

Hi…

Today I installed firecore v1.4 update, but did not change anything… (firmware 4.4.4)

It’s still lige other users tell me, it plays like it’s missing som frames…

Hope for at quick solution, because my Apple TV 2 is useless right now…

Best Regards

Kim

PS: More and more people told me, that they have same problem… so I don’t think it a problem to my hardware…

Choppy here as well, but I believe its either hw or network though, Waiting fir the ne ATV

well maybe it is network or hardware related, because i have the feeling a lot of people dont have any problems with mkv’s…

im using a 100Mbit linksys router btw

There are a number of performance/playback improvements slated for release in the 1.5 version.

Stay tuned.

Same issue here, with a fresh restore to 4.4.4 and aTV Flash 1.4.  Please bring on the new update.

Thanks

sorry to say it, but update did not help at all…
first i updraded atvflash to 1.4.1, but it did not help
then i got latest seas0npas, and installed/jailbreaked it with apple firmware 5.0
again installed atvflash 1.4.1…
still the same problem… when plaing normal dvd (iso) it does not play smoothly, like its missing some frames…
tested with and without cable on my synology ds408, with latest firmware 4.0
and again tested with my tvix cafe hd… play’s perfectly… hmm…
so now I’ve had my firecore solution not working since firmware 1.0 and 1.1, at this time it was working…

best regards
a frustrated customer…

Version 1.4.1 only included support for the new 5.0 software.

The playback improvements will be included in version 1.5, which is still a week or two away.

That’s great news!

I absolutely love the software, but this problem is pretty bad with any XVID files at 720p.  Unfortunately, much of my library was encoded with these settings the getting this fixed will be great for me.

Thanks!

yes, yes, yes…
aTV 2 flash upgrade today to v. 1.5 solved my playing issue…
tested 3 tree movies with wireless connection to my synology.
now it plays perfect and smoothly…
