Got an LG C7 TV and SJ9 sound bar, but now AirPlaying files with Dolby audio do not play sound unless “Dolby Digital over AirPlay” is turned off. Dolby Surround bubble pops up, but no sound is heard. Picture works just fine.
ATV3 and audio does not play no matter whether I use the optical or Bluetooth connection from TV to the sound bar. Is this a known limitation?
This will happen if the Apple TV cannot detect that a Dolby compatible device is detected.
One thing you can try is forcing Dolby Digital to on as described here.
For some devices you may also need to change the Audio Mode from Auto to 16-bit.
