New out of the box Apple TV 2 with 4.4.4 firmware jailbreaking help

Hi,

 

I just bought an ATV2, new in the box (not a refurb). It shipped with 4.4.4 firmware. I would like to JB without upgrading to the latest FW. However I’m entirely new to any iDevice JB’ing etc and am very unsure of what to do. I have Seasonpass, but when I attempt to do the right-click on “Create IPSW” method with the 4.4.4 option, I get a device not elligible message. When I try to save the SHSH’s via TinyUmbrella, I can only get the 5.x one.

 

Am I SOL as far as JB’ing without upgrading? If not, can you point me to a guide give me a short rundown of what to do?

You should be able to save your blobs using iFaith (although that does require you to be using Windows).

You’ll need a windows box.

 

Use iFaith from http://ih8sn0w.com/  Dump you SHSH blob

Use sn0wbreeze from ih8sn0w to create the custom ISPW.  It will ask for the 4.4.4 ispw from apple. http://appldnld.apple.com/AppleTV/041-3539.20111215.EQTW8/AppleTV2,1_4.4.4_9A406a_Restore.ipsw

Use iFaith mode.  It will ask you for the SHSH blob from the first step.

A new custom ISPW will be dumped on your desktop.

Follow the next step with iReb

Now open iTunes(probably already open) shift-restore the ispw on your desktop.

Done.

Just follow that guide above and it should be working 100%.
