My first thoughts on Infuse 8

I’m back, y’all!

Been back to living indoors for the past five months; and once again healthy and gainfully employed, which has been a nice change. At long last, I’ve finally have had time to sit down with the new Infuse (even before I lost my previous residence I was without internet for most of the prior year, so it’s been a really long time since I’ve been up-to-date and able to update my library).

My first thoughts using the latest version (as of the date of this post) of Infuse 8 on one of my aging Apple TV 4Ks (5th generation) —

Wow! She’s working fast! Infuse currently reports my (approaching 60TB) collection as containing 4,166* movies *[does that include my multiple versions, or only TMDB-identified titles? I’ll have to check] and 16,267 television episodes. And it’s blazing fast (compared to Infuse 7) pulling up artwork as I scroll through the title posters at hyper-speed.

AND(!!) background updating works again!!

My entire collection was onboarded before I even opened up Infuse the first time. Just like the good ‘ol days.

@james — can’t thank you enough for your personal kindness helping me get back into Infuse; and to all the developers from rolling out what, which, so far, appears to me, to be a rock-solid rewrite.

Of course I can nitpick (with the best of them) that some of my most-wanted UI enhancements haven’t yet been included — and I suppose I already have elsewhere in these forums (where I’ve missed nearly a year’s worth of discussion) — but … hey … Infuse works, and better than it did when I started using it when my AppleTVs were brandy-new … so I’m quite happy.

Thanks, Firecore. Rock on. Blue skies.
