AS long as there is a 4k version, I usually rip 3 versions:
- Large 4k, usually a BluRay rip.
- Either a more compressed 4k version or a good quality 1080p.
- More compressed 1080p version.
AS long as there is a 4k version, I usually rip 3 versions:
It currently only looks at resolution and dynamic range. But the beta testing is still ongoing. That might change for the release
Thanks for the feedback everyone!
We’re reworking the flow for how this works, and there is now a dedicated row with text-based buttons showing the available versions. This allows the video picker row in the lower area to remain as it was in 7.4.10.
We are also planning to integrate support for descriptive tags from the filenames (cuts, parts, etc…) but this hasn’t been added yet.
There is also a new setting which will allow you to fine-tune which version is auto-selected when opening the details page. Auto selects the best version for the device, but you can also choose highest quality or lowest quality.
Awesome.
It remains to add the option of choosing a theatrical or director’s version of the film. As it happens on some BluRay editions. For example, Terminator-2.
The planned support would be for recognition of tags contained in the video’s filename, like some other media players do.
For example.
Support for multiple video tracks in a single file would be a separate feature, but there is a thread for this.
Awesome! Much much better James!
Good job!! Way better this way.
Awesome Love this new direction of the implementation. Hopefully this makes the path towards adding support for TV shows much easier?
This really looks great! Do you think you will be expanding this feature to TV Shows? I have quite a few shows both on Blu-ray and DVD (mainly because of different foreign language tracks and corresponding subtitles which were never released on Blu-ray) and at the moment I have not found a way to organize these in Infuse. This way I could just pick the resolution depending on which language I wanted to watch in, and the Infuse interface wouldn’t be clogged up with endless duplicate entries anymore. That really would be amazing!!
The feature in 7.5 will be for movies only, but I’ve created a new thread for TV shows you can follow/support.
Thank you, James!! Here’s hoping for 7.5.1 then…
Will Plex’ editions integration also be available then?
Plex supports play version if you press and hold the play button. Beyond that, nothing is being added to the next version for Plex servers.
This would be a separate feature, and it looks like there is an existing suggestion thread here.
I just installed the 7.5 update
My Infuse is connected to my plex server. For each movie, I have a 4K version and an HD version. Is it normal that Infuse doesn’t show them to me as a group? However, when I click on play, I can choose the version … I think it would be nice to display the 2 versions available on the movie’s file
Grouping of multiple versions into Smart Groups is now available in today’s 7.5 release!
For Plex versions, you can long-press on the Play button to select from different versions. You can also follow this thread for additional support in this area.
