What you want is a standard feature of Plex, Emby etc. They can do multi-user pretty much from the start. But the point here is that you can’t simply switch between these different Plex, Jellyfin and Emby users. My wife, for example, has a completely different progression with series than I do. I need access to different Jellyfin accounts for this, but I don’t want to put a second Apple TV in the living room.
This is a good solution, and is what I used to do. There are a couple of caveats worth noting:
1: As others have mentioned there’s not a quick way to switch these in Infuse (as far as I know). You have to define the user to login as when you create the share and you can’t quickly switch between them.
2: Every additional user you add will require a Plex Pass for some features (such as Skip Intro). I ran into this myself when they fixed whatever bug was letting users without Plex Passes access Skip Intro/Credits/etc. if the Server had a Plex Pass. I think this was between PMS version 1.40.4 (where it works) and 1.40.5 (where it stops working). I mention this because it took me a lot of troubleshooting to figure out why suddenly Skip Intro stopped working on all my clients lol.
I have since switched to Jellyfin (just in the last couple of weeks) in anticipation of them adding Skip Intro in the 10.10 release and (ideally) Infuse supporting it shortly thereafter. Best I can tell Infuse also doesn’t support Plex Home users, but does support Users in Emby/Jellyfin so it’s a step in the right direction for me. If Infuse finally adds fast user switching between Jellyfin users (which seems a logical iteration after adding direct mode) then it’ll be the perfect client (it’s already pretty close, so I’m not complaining)
