Hi: I would love to see the ability to filter movies (or TV seasons) by multiple criteria Two would be good three would be great. Right now I can look at Action Movies or Movies from the 1970s It would be good to be able to filter it to Action movies from the 1970s. Or Romance Comedy from the 1980s would be perfect.
Maybe a filter screen where you could tick off multiple boxes?

I know this may be an age old question, which may hopefully be sorted in a coming update for multiple library filters - but…
The main reason I still do not use Library for my TV Shows is because it bundles everything into one place. So my biggest gripe is having all of my adult animated TV Shows and all of my kids animated TV Shows thrown together with all of my live action TV Shows.
I want to have a way to have a favourite for TV Shows which actually does not include a type like Animated. But then step two would be to have Adult Animated and Kids Animated in two seperate Library shares. Is this something which will be addressed ever?
Last, but by no means least, is that I don’t like how the ‘Unwatched’ filter is displayed. I know this has been brought up time and time again, but I wanted unwatched to present the show so that I can drill into the unwated seaon, not for it to display them in seasons of unwateched show. Will this be addressed?
I mainly use the iPad app to watch from my Plex Server on my PC.
I’m strange in that I always watch videos by either shortest length, lowest bitrate or lowest resolution.
Plex didn’t help matters by giving me all that and a bunch more sorting options.
I love this player but having to go to my PC and sort the movies by shortest length then remember them and go look on Infuse to find it makes me feel even more insane.
I use Infuse for about 8TB of adult videos, thousands that need as much sorting as possible.
I’m surprised no one made a plug-in on GitHub by now. But maybe that’s now allowed I have no idea.
Great App better than greedy Plex that wants $5 just to watch on the iPad app. Emby is a bust and Jellyfin is stuck in the mud. And don’t even get me started on Kodi, talk about half-assed coders.
I noticed one thing we don’t have is filtering in the libraries or files tab.
I think it is a standard feature to have which infuse missed.
We can sort but not filter.
I know there is an unwatched option in the search tab but it just mixes up everything.

Hi, this is a feature request for the Apple TV app.
My partner always goes into the “Movies” section on Infuse and then manually scrolls down. I would love a way to Filter the Movies section so I could quickly find (for example) all unwatched action movies from the 1980s.
Would this be possible?

Currently you can select a genre and favorite it so it becomes a folder or list in the home screen.
Would be nice to be able to stack more then one genre together, like combining filters and have that combination be favorited in the home screen.
For example: Select the horror movies and the thriller movies and be able to favorite them together in the home screen where I can select a name for their folder that I think it suits their combination so I don’t have to always create a specific search to combine those 2 genres.
With so many different filter concepts and ideas would it be possible for the developers to chime in with their concepts for implementation? Maybe then we as a community can provide feedback.
I’d find this option really useful. I’ve got lots of short video clips and have to scroll through a long list to find the ones I’ve already watched.

If we had some idea for what you are thinking we could have a discussion now rather than in the future so that we flesh it out.
Infuse has always been open to community feedback and of all the brilliant things you guys do it seems like adding additional filters would be pretty easy to implement. Isn’t this a 1 out of 10 on difficulty?
Now that 7.5 has dropped will this Multiple filters at the same time from Library be next on the list?
Since it’s just filters it shouldn’t take long to implement and would be a huge benefit to so many people that have waited years for this this small request relative to the much larger heavy lifting that Infuse has been doing.
Haha. That’s what everyone says about their feature request but in reality creating a filter in code is probably somewhat easy. The hard part will be coming up with a UI friendly option on multiple platforms that is easy-to-use and doesn’t impact the existing simplicity of the app.
Actually, I just implemented filters for my own app and it was challenging because I had to re-code a lot of things to support the flexibility I needed, such as custom ordering of filters, case insensitivity, partial matching, logical combinations, etc.
I agree to all the above, it’s such a basic functionality if Infuse is supposed to be something more than just a media player.
The missing filters and sorting limits Infuse to only playback usage for me. I never try to browse or discover something to watch with Infuse, I need to use other apps or just use the Internet and decide beforehand. Then when I know what to watch I use Infuse if that’s where the media exist.
I use Plex for media management and have a couple of different libraries, e.g. ‘Movies’, ‘Child movies’, ‘Documentaries’, ‘TV shows’, ‘Child TV shows’. I’ve added them as favorites on the home screen for quick access and it looks nice with custom covers, but they only open in an A-Z list with no sort/filter options.
If I’m in the mood for a “90s rom-com” it’s impossible to find one to watch if the movie list contains 1500+ movies ordered by A-Z. If I could apply a filter “Genre = Comedy and Romance” and then sort the movies by release date it would be quick to see if a movie I want to watch exist.

Does anyone know if this feature addition will include different sort orders? I would for instance like to be able to sort my full library alphabetically but my unwatched library by release date.

Currently I need to view my movies by filename (for lack of recognition of <sortorder> tag in .nfo) to keep them sorted in ways that make sense to me (for keeping series films listed sequentially without collapsing them into TMDB-defined series folder, and listing music and stand-up comedy concerts chronologically by artist) …
But sorting by filename isn’t supported for TV series — Infuse ignores both users’ chosen episode filaname and series folder names and instead sorts by TMDB’s series titles (only no longer ignoring the leading article “The”).
Thus the only sensible way to currently sort TV series is by Title.
Infuse does not even permit users to sort the two different major categories of items differently, bunch less any different views inside a category (such as sorting genre-filtered items by title but decade-filtered items by release date).
Definitely one of my biggest pet-peeves / perceived failings of design in Infuse to date.

And why for TV shows I still have to use Plex (unless I really need to use spatial audio at the time).
I hope it changes one day and also hope some of the planned changes that will improve browsing the UI will finally take precedent over adding new features( as cool as some of those features are.)
I purchased an Infuse subscription a really long, long time ago. Before AppleTV 4 series devices, I had older AppleTV’s and fondly remember jailbreaking my device.
Firecore basically started out as this fast and nimble company that believed in giving users options!
When the Apple TV 4 series came out I was so excited for Infuse to provide a great media solution but after all these years its nothing more than a glorified player without this basic functionality.
Last year I went through the forums and found almost a hundred separate requests for a basic filter plus sort and brought this up to Infuse.
The admin collected some of the threads and then it was added to the pending feature list.
Several version updates have happened since then but we haven’t been given any update on it.
If we were talking about adding a new codec or a major feature I would understand but all we are looking for to start is a filter button and a few lines of code.
Not being able to use Infuse for even the most basic discovery for an entire decade has has been disheartening to say the least.
Its past time that Infuse does the right thing and spends the .002% of the time it would take to add a filter button.
