Parental controls are insufficient for two reasons:
ratings are not consistently applied to all library items, so some movies slip through to children
parent may not agree with an automatic rating and wish to be more selective manually
movies still show in the library even if they can’t be played due to rating restrictions, still signalling content and style of movie against parental intentions
This needs to be resolved or the app is not compatible with family reality. Otherwise lots of potential.
If you have content you do not want shown in the Library then place those items in a separate directory that isn’t included in the library. I believe you can even pass code that share for additional protection.
That does not work or is completely impractical if when there are multiple people including multiple children at different age. The approach should be dynamic and rely on proper movie ratings or other (group and individual) privileges as other software shows it can be done.
Yeah at this point it doesn’t make sense to keep using Infuse when Plex does this plus most other top suggestions. This has a nice UI but for families with a huge library this is absolutely needed and looks like it’s not happening any time soon which is unfortunate. Probably gonna be my last year subscribing unless there are big changes.
We have no plans on owning a Vision Pro for what it’s worth. The push for that platform makes no sense right now.
I just got the app and signed up for pro, but between this and the lack of sso/quickconnect support on Jellyfin I can’t really use it. I was willing to download some shows and stream them locally rather than using my server connection, but I can’t get by without profiles so my kids only see appropriate content.
Something more specific than “planned” would be nice given how long this request has been around and how popular it is.
When you first open the app, you’ll see a list of media servers you can connect to. You can have multiple connections to the same media server, with each connection using a different user account. This gives you flexibility in how you access your media content. There are already other apps that can do this.
Infuse already supports multiple shares to a extent, just make the management of it more refined.
In the 10 years this feature is being processed, I managed to catch a wife, we made two children, renovated a house, gotten 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 guinea pigs and an aquarium full of fish, I changed job 4 times.
I am sure this feature can be made with less effort than the above.
It takes even less effort to not forget that you need to click the like button on the first post in this thread to show your support for this suggestion!
I’ve got 5 people in my family all watching various shows so not having multi profiles is a nightmare. Infuse is falling behind other native apps such as Plex with multi user, auto skipping of intros and credits but playback is far superior with Infuse. If Plex new interface is any good I’ll be cancelling Infuse subscription as profiles is surely a must have for most people!
@James Why hasn’t the addition of the strmlink feature garnered much attention? You implemented this feature so quickly, yet a feature proposed nearly 10 years ago remains unaddressed. How many decades does a person have? Even for other features with significantly higher demand than strmlink, you haven’t taken them into consideration. Why is that? How many people actually use the strmlink feature once it’s developed? Have you overthought it? Others use infuse.
