I am trying out Infuse Pro and an Apple TV with the sole purpose of having a tolerable solution for downmixing but so far I am not too impressed.
Can we get modern downmixing options with some form of DRC so that we can enjoy our content properly on our preffered 2.0 systems?

Yes, I’ve posted a comment there to voice my support.
However I don’t think they’re (Infuse) using the best downmixing algorithm, and so if they were to implement a better, they might also fix the issue you’re describing.
