I have over a thousand .nfo files (some custom edited) that I collected when I was using my HD with XBMC. There are also over a thousand JPGS.
How can I get the built-in MEDIA player to use that data instead of downloading it all over again?

I do not believe that you can currently get the Media Player to use metadata from a .nfo file, but it should be possible to use existing .jpg files for the cover art.
