- How often does Infuse automatically re-download metadata?
- Why is this necessary? If you have hundreds of movies in a folder with fetched metadata, is it really necessary to send hundreds of requests to TMDB regularly?
- When movie metadata “expires” and is not yet fetched again, their titles change to the folder or file name… can’t the old metadata be retained until it’s updated?
- When it refreshes, it uses the current system metadata language setting instead of the previous one. Although Infuse used to save the metadata language after manual edits, this didn’t always work, and overrides occurred occasionally.
Auto-refreshing of metadata no longer happens. This was changed awhile back as the number of daily updates on TMDB had grown quite large, so there often could be thousands of updates to fetch.
You can manually refresh metadata and artwork if you like by using the option found in Infuse > Settings > Library.
Note: If you’re using Emby, Jellyfin, or Plex in Direct Mode the metadata would be updated if it is changed on the media server.
I’m connecting via NFS with the Library disabled, so Infuse scans folders/favorites and downloads metadata. What do you mean by “Auto-refreshing of metadata no longer happens”? It still tries to auto-fetch metadata regularly.
The metadata cache size can grow from 1.1GB (initial scan) to 2.4GB after a few months, even with few new titles added.
@james, can you clarify the expected behavior when the Library is disabled?
Automatic scanning would occur, but once an item has been scanned that metadata would not be updated if things are changed on TMDB.
Infuse now allows you to disable the automatic scanning feature and this can be adjusted in the Advanced section of the share’s settings menu.
I deleted favorites and the metadata cache, then started from scratch by adding favorite folders one by one. Now I get black artworks or backdrops on different titles. Once this happens, I have to force quit Infuse on ATV, otherwise, all subsequent images turn black. However, those black ones won’t recover unless I delete the cache and restart again, restarting ATV doesn’t help too. What should I do?
