Hi all. Any tips and best practice sugestions for managing a library that has blu-ray 1080p resolution files that are original bit-rate (say 30 Mbps) and lower bit-rate suitable for remote streaming (say 6 Mbps). The only way i can see to distinguish between the two versions in the library is by file name i.e. -bluray.mkv or -6Mbps.mkv. But the file name is difficult to see and not easy for the casual user (i.e. the kids or my wife!) to pick up that nuance.
How are you all working with multiple versions of the same file (esepcially where resolution is the same)? Cheers
Many thanks @NC_Bullseye . I’ll experiment with the edition tags (hadn’t spotted that feature on previous read throughs). It says “note: tags are only visble while browsing via the Library”, so not sure how exactly that manifests itself and in what view but I’ll check it out. Cheers
Definitely a great solution using {edition-tag}. Using tdarr all my high bitrate media is now tagged {edition-BluRay} and lower bitrate {edition-DVD}, with the two editions showing up on the Movie page as selectable options to play. Made it so much easier for the family to know which quality file they’re selecting and playing without getting too technical for them. Thanks again for the solution.
