Make the AppleTV identify an External Drive connected to Mac

I’ve tried to find a solution to this issue, but all topics are pre-2013 when the systems were very different in both tvOS and macOS.

I store my media files in an external SSD folder that is attached to my dock, which is connected to my Mac.

Using Infuse on Mac, I was able to select that folder from the external drive and then configure the necessary permissions, file sharing settings, and create an Infuse user for that, all according to the tutorials.

As a result, I’m able to view my videos on Infuse, but only on the Mac.

On my Apple TV, I’m able to connect to my Mac. However, it doesn’t show any media files, which is expected - they’re not within the MacBook, but in a folder from an external SSD connected to it. Infuse on the Apple TV has no option of connecting to that, only to my MacBook.

Is there a way to fix this?

Files don’t need to be internal to the Mac, you can share an external drive and as long as you set the share privileges for the external drive it’s content will show up as available for Infuse as long as that drive is mounted.
