macOS 26 Picture-In-Picture windows stays on

After updating my M1 Mac Mini to MacOS 26.0.1, I see that when I open a video in PiP and close the PiP, the video goes back to the player. However, the PiP window stays on and can’t be closed until I quit the application.

The attached picture shows the video playing in the app but PiP is still on

Same on macOS 26.1 Beta 2

Thanks for your report.

There are some system bugs in macOS 26 which are causing issues here and we are looking into potential workarounds.

Experiencing an issue using the pop-out (picture in picture) window view on the macOS build running Tahoe (26.0.1) on an M1 iMac. Basically, if you switch to the pop-out view, the pop-out window stays behind (as a black window shape) when you switch back.

The only way to get it to go away is to quit Infuse.

Don’t forget

Wouldn’t system bugs affect all apps that use the built in PiP mechanism of MacOS though? Like safari, the ATV app, and others? Why would only Infuse have this issue? I reported this to you guys as soon as I started using MacOS26 which was in June/July… please fix this. Would be greatly appreciated.

Ack! Code is GD735.

Same problem here, very frustrating!

might be a long wait since not a lot of people use the PiP function…

The issue remains on the latest version, v8.3.

Same Bug here on Tahoe 26.1 and Infuse 8.3.2.

me too,hope quick fix

I’m having this problem too since Tahoe. I wouldn’t need PiP if I could size the Infuse screen small enough to sit in a corner while I work, but it won’t go any smaller than about 623x351 which takes up almost a quarter of my screen, can’t use it for “background” watching since it takes up too much space that way. I also wish the pause/play button (on my keyboard) would work in PiP but it only seems to work in full mode.

Been hoping this would be fixed so I didn’t t have to make a report but it’s ruining my experience.

If I do PiP the window will stay even if I send it back to the player. If that ghost window is still there and I try to use Pip again it will freeze the video while the audio continues. The only way to fix it is to force quit the app. I am having to force quit the app every day, multiple times a day because of this.

Just wanted to chime in and say that this is still happening on macOS 26.2 and .3 beta. Only way to get rid of the PiP window is force exit.

Still the same issue on Tahoe Beta 26.3 and version 8.3.6

@james any timeline for the fix? It’s been so long now.
