Mac standby

Hi! If I have the Mac as a standby server, can I continue watching movies from the iPad?

Thanks

Regards.

From what I understand, a Mac like the MBP can be used as a server while closed (clamshell mode) but the available streaming speeds will be reduced.

If your Mac is generally in standby mode, Infuse can make use of a feature called Wake-on-LAN (WoL) to wake the device when you want to play videos. To enable this feature you will want to add the Media Access Control (MAC) ID to the share’s settings in Infuse. Once this is done, Infuse will be able to instantly wake the Mac from standby mode.

Note: Each network interface (Wi-FI, Ethernet, etc…) on your Mac will have a unique MAC ID, and macOS now includes privacy-related options for changing this and setting this to a random identifier (to help mitigate your device being tracked on public Wi-Fi networks). This anonymization is less of a need while using your own local private Wi-Fi and you’ll just want to ensure the MAC ID entered in Infuse matches the one currently set on your Mac.
