MAC address question for Wake on LAN

Hello,

I have a question regarding Wake-on-LAN, I have seen other posts here stating that when setting up an SMB share, inputting the MAC address in the Advanced section should allow the serving computer to Wake once Infuse is started up on the streaming device.

I have input the MAC address from System Settings - Wi-Fi - Details… - Wi-Fi Address and then the “Wi-Fi address” which is in the xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx format and but it hasn’t worked.

I just realized there is another "MAC address: in the same Wi-Fi - Details… section but under “Hardware” and it’s called “MAC address” and not “Wi-Fi address” both are in the same format but are different.

Which one should I be using?

Thanks!

Macintosh computers will have two different MAC addresses, one for WiFi and one for Ethernet. Most other servers will also have a separate MAC address for WiFi and Ethernet connections.

Use the one for the method you’re using to connect your server to your network with.

Also, if it is a Mac computer make sure in the Energy Saver settings that you have wake for network access checked.

Ok great so the first one I used was right after all that says “Wi-Fi address” is the correct one. Turns out the problem was in System Settings - Battery - Options - Wake for Network Access being set to Always and not “Only on Power Adapter” Thanks a lot!
