Please help , is there an actual set of instructions to setup a Windows share?
I have saved Windows shares showing up in Infuse but none of them are able to access the content on the disks.
All the docs seem to expect users with Macs. Im so frustrated.
Iv’e setup with Windows 11 no password requirement for sharing and it only shows the folders, no files. When navigating into folders theres the message access denied.
When I have tried the other way on Windows with password protected access, my username and password are not accepted. Is it my Microsoft account email and password that I use?
In my experience when i faced similar error it was due to lack of security permission for the user accounts.
Check the folder and files property and go to permission tab and security tab and make sure the user has at least read permission to the folder and files.
I could only get the share to attach when the Windows wasn’t expecting a username and password.
When I tried using credentials it was always wrong. Like most people I have a Microsoft account and I was using the email and password for the MS account.
How exactly should it be typed if using credentials?
To be honest even i was quite confused about this so I created a local account just to access it across smb.
My advice would be to create a local account give it permission for the shared folder and files, make sure it has permission under both sharing and security sections, use the credentials of local account and it should work.
