In pre-8.0 (actually, pre-7.7) Infuse, one could view all the media files in a folder as a list of files. For some reason, this functionality was removed when Direct Mode was added. Now, the only way to view a folder is a grid of posters, which makes it VERY difficult to find a particular file.
This becomes a big problem when there’s a folder with dozens, or hundreds, of files. Displaying it in a grid is horrible for a couple of reasons. First, you can’t see the entire name of the file - this is especially true on tvOS. Trying to find a specific file means moving the focus to one file at a time and wait for the entire name to scroll into view. Ugh!!
Another problem with a grid of posters is to scan through looking for a specific file means scanning the grid from left to right again and again as you go down the list. Grid view (or Icon view) is really useless when you have hundreds of files in a folder.
Finally, displaying small icons (posters) of each media file is meaningless. I have a folder of hundreds of music video files and the small icon/poster doesn’t even remotely represent the artist or song, which makes it really impractical to identify a file.
Infuse use to have list view as an option - why did it go away! Currently, without the ability to regress back to an older version (7.6.1) on tvOS, I have to revert to the Plex client to view these folders. Plex still allows a list view and then also shows a large poster of each music file as it’s selected. Much better!!
Please restore List View in Infuse!
