Hi,
I am getting very laggy playback when playing 4k files via infuse. I am using Plex server on the backend and appletv to watch on infuse.
When I press to skip back 10 seconds or make any skips in timeline the player will just lock up and sometimes recovers after 30 seconds or so. Generally though the player will become completely unresponsive and I have to hard quit out back to the appletv Home Screen (once the system responds again, this can take over a minute).
This is only on high quality 4k files, for example 12gn for a 1 hour tv show or 50gb for a movie.
I have tested these files on Plex on the Apple TV and they run perfectly and are highly responsive.
Any ideas?
what audio format do u have on ur video file.
i also experience a lag, but the lag doesnt appear on every 4k video. it appears on 4k video with 5.1 audio format
It doesn’t matter, I have tried all audio types and all of them lag. Surely other people must be experiencing this issue also with large 4k files?
Plex just plays them like a breeze, but I don’t want to use Plex as a front end!
Yes, I am having the issue as well. James said they aren’t going to get to this until after 8.0 is released
audio part of the video lags…also the video part lags …
where did james say they will fix this issue after v8?
It may have been in the beta forum, but I can tell you that playback and performance improvements are not part of v8.0.0 releases.
yeah it does lag…i just tried to play a large 4k video file without dolby vision and in dolby atmos 5.1…it lags when i fast backforward or forward…
so it will be v8.1 …to fix it?
they should fix it as soon as possible…it is very popular to have a large video file now
There is no commit to what version or date it will come, but I agree it should be fixed over many other things.
why is this not prioritised to be fixed?
@james
When will 8.0 be released have they said?
If this is the case then I will just cancel my sub until they fix it. The fact you can’t play a decent size 4k file on a video player is simply not good enough.
yeah
large 4k video files with dolby vision and DDPS.51/dolby atmos 5.1 are more popular.
they should prioritise to fix it.
