Jellyfin version support

Hi there! In Jellyfin, I have some old movies which have multiple versions e.g a black & white version and a colorized version. In the Jellyfin web interface, there’s a dropdown to choose which one. In Infuse, I only every see the black & white version, no UI to see or toggle to another one.

For black & white vs. colorized, the UI might be in the player, similar to Audio Tracks. But as those are separate files and not only separate streams within the same file and this might also be used e.g. for Versions like “Directors Cut” or “Extended Edition”, it’s probably better at the details page of the movie.

Documentation about naming in JF: Movies | Jellyfin

I’ve seen e.g. Emby & Jellyfin multiple versions of a movie but I couldn’t find it, neither on Apple TV nor on iPhone…. latest versions. — Only to double check after posting here and finding the related ones. Solution: LONG-PRESS the Play button – feature actually already works.

Jellyfin supports multiple versions Movies | Jellyfin (movie name - version label, e.g. Troy (2004) - Director‘s Cut) but these are aggregated into one version by Infuse rather than showing „Director‘s Cut“ & „Theatrical Cut“ as selectable options on the movie page.

I think the solution is to pull the „Version Label“ from Jellyfin and show them on the movie page (like when naming a movie Troy (2004) {edition-Director‘s Cut}).

I moved your post to an already running suggestion requesting this feature.

Don’t forget that you need to click the like button on the first post in this thread to show your support for this suggestion!

Would love to see this!

The quality/version selector when not using Jellyfin’s method of combining multiple versions looks really nice. It would be great if the same version selector UI could be utilized for browsing through content in Jellyfin with multiple versions.

Right now when the files are combined with Jellyfin, we need to use the hold play to select version which is extremely unintuitive and just generally looks terrible.
