i need to get back to 4.4.4. untethered so i can get xbmc back on… is there any easy way to do this???
Did you have a jailbroken 4.4.4 prior to updating? If so use the latest Seas0nPass and right click on Create IPSW and Select 4.4.4. It will fetch your blobs from Cydia (assuming their are stored there) which will act as a signing server.
However if you didn’t backup your blobs then you are out of luck.
Xbmc works on 5.0…
does xbmc work on the 5.1 version?
how can i down grade back to 4.4.4. so it can be untethered??
I need that too, and I dont think I have the blobers, I dont know where to look for them, all help will be appreciated
If you didn’t specifically back them up in TinyUmbrella or have the AppleTV jailbroken with aTV Flash to back them up for you then you don’t have them.
the atv2 wasnt jailbroken. i was gonna do it for a friend who put 5.1 on it…
is there any way to get it back to 4.4,4?
can i download blobs?
can i use the files from my atv that is still jailbroken with xbmc on it? cant you fransfer files?
why is it so hard to put old versions on it??
Nope
Apple only wants you to use their latest and greatest software. They achieve this by using a signing server. What happens is for a period of time an iOS version will be signed by Apple allowing you to restore it. After they release a new one they generally turn off the signing of the old version preventing users from flashing it. If you have your SHSH blobs cached you can mimic the signing server of Apple to make iTunes think that the version is still being signed.
As I stated earlier in the thread… unless you have the SHSH blobs backed up for version 4.4.4 then you cannot. Version 5.0 and 5.1 are, at this moment in time, interchangable as they refer to the same iOS version. And yes XBMC works on the latest iOS for the Apple TV. It does have a few bugs but you can count on them to be fixed by the XBMC team.
so the 5.0 os with ver 5.1 can be jb’d and you can put xbmc on it??? i assume the only catch is that is has to be tethered? so - this means i cant do it at my place and take the atv2 to a friends??
i have to go to his place and hook it up to his tv/power and break it there? and it can never be turned off? what happens if it is turned off? does it have to be jail b’d again? or just fired up with itunes??
and explanation of best way to do it for a friend would be great and what happens if he turns it off or re starts it…
thanks for your understanding
To boot a tethered device you just need to connect it to a computer and in Seas0nPass click Boot Tethered. The problem is that you cannot disconnect the power from the device so it is best to use a laptop to boot it.
but once xbmc and all other add ons are done you dont have to redo those?
you just have to connect to a computer to boot it?
so i can jailbreak at my place, load on xbmc and all ad-ons and then take to my pals and hook up tp his tv and boot it using my laptop… then leave him on his own…
maybe put seasons pass on his laptop incase he needs to boot it…
will that work?

newbie looking for Apple tv 2 5.0 untethered …will there be one coming out any time soon with working xbmc
with shh blogs from 4.4 can i use the shh blogs from any apple tv that has 4.4 jailbreak on it?
For future guides in jailbreaking, it would be great if there was somewhere it says that we need tinyumbrella to backup the blobs, so us that dont know anything about this, is getting a heads up that they could be usefull sometimes
I really wish I sould go back to a version like 4.4.2 and then update to 4.4.4 and then jailbreak untethered
Blobs are unique to each firmware and ECID (each iDevice) you cannot share or upgrade
So I got XBMC working on my 5.0 ATV and everything was fine for a couple days. This morning I logged off of XBMC and all my apple TV icons were gone except for NitoTV, XBMC, Settings, and Computers. How do I get my icons back without having to re-jailbreak? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
That suggests that the ATV2 thinks it has lost its network connection. It might be worth checking what the ATV2 says about the network if you go into Settings.
