Is it worthwhile to update the aTV OS after jailbreak?

I jailbroke my aTV2 almost a year ago, and I can’t remember the OS version, but I know they have made a lot of new changes.

I have all the fun stuff installed like XBMC, etc.  My question is, is it worthwhile to update the aTV2 OS and then re-jailbreak?  I would need to re-do all the XBMC repos and re-set up my Media and everything, right?  Or is there a better way to do all this?

Thank you.

To update the Apple TV software you will want to re-jailbreak with the latest version of Seas0nPass and re-run the aTV Flash (black) installer from a Mac or PC. Doing this will update and jailbreak your Apple TV at the same time.

Prior to updating you may want to backup your settings to streamline the setup process after the update is complete. This can be done on the Apple TV through the Maintenance --> Settings --> Manage Backups menu. Doing this will save all your FireCore settings, and some of your XBMC settings (things like Add-ons are not backed up).

James, can you speak to which XBMC settings are backed up?  I don’t much care about add-ins but do care about media volume settings.

I just updated and now can’t find where to restore from my backup.  (New interface, etc)

edit Just realized I’m an idiot and needed to reinstall aTV Flash after the update.

Great, thanks!  So to double check, this will save my settings for where my media is located for the Media Player, yes?  (Movies, TV, and Music…)

I just looked up what would be new, and besides a new interface and National Geographic screen saver, is it really that much more stable?  Any other new features that are loved by everyone?  Is Netflix able to stream in better quality?  (5.1?)

I remember the XBMC Add-ons were kind of a pain, so that would be the only reason to hold off for me.  I have really grown to love my aTV because of Firecore, so thank you so much for turning a near worthless device into something so incredible.
