So Toho in Japan has released a number of their Godzilla movies and Akira Kurosawa movies in SDR but using bt.2020. Recently I was watching the Godzilla Final Wars UHD from this boxset:
I could be imagining things, but it feels like the colors are washed out when played back on my LG B6 OLED similar to if I watch the same movie on my SDR computer monitor. This seems most apparent in the intro of the movie where it has the yellow Tohoscope title logo. Maybe it’s just due to a new color grade, but the yellow seems much less saturated than it appears in other movies I’ve watched that are the more common SDR bt.709 that use essentially the exact same Tohoscope intro.
