Is HDR10+ support planned for older Apple TV 4K (not 2022 model)

Or will the 2022 model be needed?

I’d guess that the new hardware will be necessary.

We need to wait for the release of the new tvOS update. After that, there will be an answer to your question

The Apple TV app has been updated with HDR10+ capability.

how do you know?
how to check ?

Do you see the same thing on the Apple TV?

My TV doesn’t support HDR10+, but I am seeing the new HDR10+ logo on some of my iTunes purchased movies with my older gen ATV4K which I upgraded to TVOS 16.1 yesterday.

These are the specs listed by Apple for each model. Since HDR10+ is a key feature of the 2022 Apple TV, I would be surprised if they enabled this on the older models…but who knows.

  • Apple TV 4K (2017) HEVC Dolby Vision (Profile 5)/HDR10 (Main 10 profile) up to 2160p
  • Apple TV 4K (2021) HEVC Dolby Vision (Profile 5)/HDR10 (Main 10 profile)/HLG up to 2160p, 60 fps
  • Apple TV 4K (2022) Dolby Vision (Profile 5) up to 2160p, 60 fps, HDR10+/HDR10/HLG with HEVC (Main 10 Profile) up to 2160p, 60 fps*

What’s sure is that Apple TV app for TVs like Samsung is now supporting HDR10+

It’s very easy to check. Turn on any movie from the Apple TV app with HDR10+ support on a Samsung TV or any other with HDR10+ support
