iPhone videos still not showing as dv or hdr

Continuing the discussion from Dolby Vision iPhone 12 recording:

I thought this was solved. I film in hdr on my iPhone. Video shows up as SDR in infuse.

It may help if you could run one of these through mediainfo and post the output here.

weird, I can’t see any trace of these videos being DV or HDR. However, when I play them on my phone it definitely does. Also, the last one, synced up to iCloud photo and turns my appleTV to DV mode.

Something is funky there. Maybe the export from the iphone strips it away?

Ok. Used apples files app to transfer the videos over to Synology NAS. works perfectly. :person_facepalming:

I vaguely remember some settings on iOS where it didn’t keep the highest quality except on the cloud I think.

Just to verify, you now can see the HDR version with Infuse when you use the file app to transfer the videos?

Yeah, I was gonna say BT.709 isn’t an HDR color space. Apple tends to downgrade file transfers by default “for compatibility” unless transferring to another Apple device or specifying “Original Quality” in settings.

Yes. It works as expected. It seems that during the file transfer, iOS stripped the hdr/dv part from the hlg so I was actually testing against the SDR version.

When I transferred using apple’s iOS files app, it transferred the original file. That file has correct media info and infuse plays it perfectly.
