When I have background playback enabled and have a 720p MKV video playing in the background, the phone gets very warm within a minute or so.
I know you guys rewrote the playback core in 5.3, so how does this square with the phone becoming uncomfortably warm within such a short period of time?
Do you know what type of videos these are? Currently, HEVC (h.265) videos use SW decoding, though Apple is opening up HW decoding with iOS 11. This will allow for much improved efficiency when playing these videos.
If you’re able to upload a sample we can double-check your video to be sure.
x264 AVC, not x265.
