I’m unable to play Dolby Vision Profile 5 videos on my 2021 iPad using Infuse 7.3.10.
The file will take a while to load, then eventually only plays the audio. There’s no video.
Here’s a test file: http://media.developer.dolby.com/DolbyVision_Atmos/mp4/iOS_P5_GlassBlowing2_3840x2160%4059.94fps_15200kbps.mp4
It plays fine on all of my other devices: iPhone 13, 2020 M1 MacBook Air, Apple TV 4K, even my 2015 iMac.
The only device it won’t play on is my 2021 iPad (the $329 model).

Are you streaming it from a local or remote server or have you downloaded it to your ipad?
Both. I tried streaming from a local Plex server, and I downloaded the file to my iPad (through Infuse). Both fail to play video, and only play the audio.

And the link you provided is the same file?
Yes, that’s the file that won’t play

I just Dl’d it and put in on my server and my iPhone played it without a hitch. Maybe someone with an iPad can try it out.

And other non DV files play without problems?
Did they play prior to the 7.3.10 update?
Have you quit Infuse on the iPad and restarted it?
Have you tried restarting the iPad?
Yes all other files play fine, including Dolby Vision Profile 7 & 8 files with HDR10 fallback. Dolby Vision Profile 5 files are the only problem.
I just downloaded Infuse on my iPad so I’m not sure if this worked in previous versions of Infuse.
Restarting Infuse didn’t help. Neither did restarting my iPad. The file takes a while to load, then just starts playing audio. No video.

It may be worth deleting it off the ipad and reinstalling it in case it got a corrupted install.

Thanks for all the suggestions, but unfortunately a reinstall didn’t work either. Dolby Vision Profile 5 files are still an issue on the 2021 iPad.

Thanks for trying and hopefully someone will have an answer.
Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.

No, sorry for the confusion if you missed it, @james — this is on my iPad running 7.5.4 (4425). I haven’t been able to update it yet.
@Hitsville
I do believe these episodes are Profile 5(?):
From Media Info:
“Dolby Vision, Version 1., dvhe.05.06, BL+RPU”
And, @NC_Bullseye , yes, I tried all three settings to no effect (on Infuse 7.5.4).
My AppleTVs are stuck on Infuse 7.5.1 (4394) and play the files correctly.

Which model iPad?
Some devices will not support DoVi, and more info can be found on this page.
https://developer.dolby.com/platforms/apple/ios/device-support/
Yep.
The previous beta 7.4.x broke it and results in black screen
The latest 7.5 release fixed it again on my Apple TV.
No idea about what does and doesn’t work on iOS though sadly.

Which model iPad?
I have a 9th generation iPad (64GB, MK2K3LL/A),
But it’s running Infuse 7.5.4 (4425), on iPadOS 16.5.
I’ll update it next time I get connected to some juicy internets.

Thanks. There is an issue with that specific device we have on our radar to look into.

Oh! Okay.
I just want to make doubly sure you realize I’m NOT using the most current version of Infuse — because I don’t have an active internet connection and can’t update to 7.5.5 from home.
I’m experiencing the issue on 7.5.4 only, as far as I can tell.
Might this have already been fixed in 7.5.5?
