I’ve added my heart! Given what’s happening with Trakt at the moment, it would be wonderful if we had a few more options when it comes to library/watch tracking. While it does seem like you can link your SIMKL account to your Trakt account, it would be much nicer if this was done direct from Infuse. Please @james … pretty please with cherries on top!
I just really wish that Simkl had a collections capability like Trakt. I emailed support and they basically said it wasn’t on their roadmap Why can Trakt do it but Simkl cant?! He said something about server requirements but that makes no sense. I want to have a collection!! Trakt does it right, unfortunately. I just refuse to support them.
Well, trakt just completely changed their website. It has a “nice” facelift but now is completely ruined as far as I use it. I can’t easily do anything with regards to movies. I used to take me 2 taps now takes me 10. I would say it’s time that Infuse moves on to something else.
I purchased my first Infuse 2 Pro on January 26 2014. I’ve been using your beautiful app for now more than 12 years. It has only gotten better and better with time and the Infuse dev team and community has been just fantastic.
Only a few weeks later, on April 5 2014, I signed up for trakt, a unique novel service at the time many came to know and love. The integration with infuse was a match made in heaven. And for the next decade everything was just getting better and better.
Unfortunately everything changed a bit more than a year ago when trakt paywalled basic features like list length. Recently the straw that broke the camel’s back is a couple of days ago they forced their new website design change on all free accounts and will eventually force all paid accounts to it too. It has broken an astonishing amount of basic features like calendar views, seeing all shows completed, cover art dashboards etc. Taking a quick glance at their support forums and Reddit shows the overwhelming majority extremely dissatisfied for the last year and with this major evolution a few days ago many leaving the service.
SIMKL is the service I and many ppl have been moving to. And in just a few days of using it, I already signed up for the lifetime paid account due to the extreme flexibility of the interface, responsiveness of the devs and the mind blowing customization.
I think infuse integration moving into the future would be a match made in heaven and the ethos of both companies seem to be so similar.
I really urge the Infuse devs to take a Quick Look at what’s going on with trakt on their forums and Reddit and even using a free trakt account to see it’s only a matter of time.
Simkl has extensive documentation on integration and their dev team is very responsive.
Please consider this, and thanks again for your great work.
Wow! $250 just to track your collections and history! That seems a bit extreme. Even their regular monthly or annual costs are more than Infuse. This has me concerned that this could go the way of trakt. All I need is a simple (and ideally free) way to track my watch history, which technically trakt still supports just that their new website sucks.
Here to add onto the sentiment that I too would love the addition of SIMKL or even anilist integration to give users more of a choice in how their media is tracked. As we all know, sentiment for trakt has been falling off a cliff the last few years and I’ve found that SIMKL and anilist have been better at tracking while keeping the end user experience in mind (by not randomly pay walling features previously available for free)
You basically need Pro if you want to get the newer, nicer layout and for the ability to create custom lists / get custom AI recommendations (which you can also get for free if you visit the site 20 days in a 30 day rolling-period).
VIP is for power users who might want features like automated backups and for those who want to support the project, but you don’t need it for scrobbling or to keep track of your watchlists.
They specifically said Lifetime is not a long-term sustainable option for their business model and it only exists with a limited number of slots for each price tier (it was $150 when I got it, previously you were able to get it for $75 with a referral). Now it’s $250.
I hope this won’t be interpreted as advertising, since Simkl and Infuse don’t share the same business product and I don’t get any benefits for explaining all of this.
@james Can we get any type of info at all on this ? Has this been disscussed ? Is it being considered ? Is there some sort of exclusivity agreement with trakt ? Short term or long term ?
I’m still a Trakt user but the things that have been going on over the last year do have me concerned & I would like to see alternative options to have the flexibility to change away from Trakt if they keep going down this road of not listening to their user base & their design are very unappealing to me.
Simkl seems like a strong competitor & I hope they get added as an alternative to Trakt.
Please add support for tracking alternatives like MDBList, SIMKL and PMDB making Infuse less tied to Trakt.
I don’t trust Trakt as the only option anymore. They keep moving free features behind paywalls (while making their subscription suddenly much more expensive), making big changes with little warning (for users and developers alike), and the V3 redesign has removed or buried things we relied on. On top of that, the Ripple acquisition left a really bad taste, especially for those of us who had lifetime subscriptions that suddenly became worthless.
Infuse is a premium and amazing product, but watched history, progress, and ratings are too important to depend solely on one service that feels increasingly unstable and user-hostile.
Please make this a priority. Users need choice, and we should not be locked into Trakt.
As someone who has used multiple tracking solutions throughout the years. I do agree that being siloed to just Trakt is not beneficial in the long run and would appreciate more options
