Installer says installation was successful but no new menus

Like the title says, the aTV Flash (black) installer runs fine and proceeds to the end of the installation and says it was successful but when the aTV restarts, there’s no new menus. I read in another thread that’s over a year old now that people tried rerunning the installation several times but that hasn’t worked for me.

Some additional information would be useful such as:

- what apple firnware versiondo you have on the ATV2

  • what jailbreak tool did you nuse?

  • what version of the Installer are you using

  • are you using a PC or Mac?

Note that the only new menu that should appear after the installer has succeeded is the FireCore maintenance menu.  All the other FireCore options are installed via the maintenance menu.

I’ve just tried restarting the aTV using the restart menu option under settings and now I’m getting the iTunes logo / USB cable graphic again. :(

I had trouble with that yesterday and had to do a normal restore and then go through the whole process again of using Seas0nPass to jailbreak (which I downloaded from this site two days ago together with the aTV installer - doesn’t have a version number) and then having to do a tethered boot to get the FC logo to show up on the dashboard before I could get to the point of installing aTV Flash.

After installing aTV Flash the first time, the FC logo was replaced with the default settings icon again on the dashboard.

I’m on a Mac running 10.6.8. Not sure how to tell which version of the firmware my aTV is using.

Doing that restart will force you into needing another tethered boot as it is equivalent to powering off and on.

if you have just downloaded the installer it is almost certain to be the 1.5 version which was recently released

it is expected that the FireCore loo inserted by SeasonPass should disappear on successful install of the FireCore software. However one now expects the FireCore Maintenance menu to be present.

The ATV firmware version is available via the Settings menu.

It is not clear why things are not working for you. It sounds as if things seems tonhaveinstalled, but then you are notngettingnthe maintenance menu to allow you to continue to the next stage.

I did another tethered boot and got aTV back up and running and did another install of Flash but still no extra menu. Have been to Settings / General / About and can see I’m running 5.0 (4099) of aTV software, but still haven’t been able to locate which firmware it’s using.

So what other options do I have to get this working?

same problem here. after installing, aTVFlash (Black) indicates the process was successful. but when I go into the Maintenance menu option it has three empty options: Manage Extras, Settings and About (no content any of the three)

 I’m running 5.0 (4099) of appleTV software

I have turned off, boot tehtered and still nothing

¿any help?

thanks in advance

I have the same problem.

Running ATV2 (black) with 5.0 (4099)

Mac OSX 10.7.3

Most recent Seas0npass and most recent ATV Flash (downloaded today)

Jailbreaking is successful but after installing the ATVflash, it looks like my ATV was returned to normal (i.e.: No firecore logo for settings)

Please help.

I have a similar problem

Installation of aTV (black) successful - but restart not apparent.

Menus show standard Apple “Settings” - in Settings-About- it shows AppleTV Software 5.0(4099)

The FireCore icon was there after tethered jailbreak with Seas0nPass

Powered off aTV and tethered boot again, with same result

I hate to e too, but me too.   I’ve done this several times successfully, but I just did a clean install on a 2nd gen device,  using the 5.0.1 version of Apple TV, the 0.84 version of fire core for OS X (under latest build of Lion), and latest of iTunes.   Final result was “successful” install, used a tethered boot.

The top 5 icons are Movies - TV SHows - Music - Computer and Settings – with the Firecore Icon.   There is no icon with the “Gears” icon.  The settings menu is the standard AppleTV menu.

OK — see-- I am an idiot.  I was going to delete my me too post, but learn from my foolishness.

Duhh ---- All i installed was the FIrecore jailbreak – I completely forgot to install the separate Firecore installer!

As Bugs Bunny would say, “What a Maroon!”

Hi

Please can you help - I am also having this issue.  Have tried to restore, jailbreak, then install aTV Flash over and over again.  It always works perfectly smoothly but the Maintenance menu is never there.  I can SSH to the Apple TV.

Untethered jailbreak with SeasonPass v0.8.5 (555) and AppleTV2,1_5.0_9B206f_Restore.ipsw, then installing aTV Flash (black) v1.5.1.  All latest versions (as far as I know) and all downloaded today.  All run to completion without error.

On a Mac running OS X 10.7.4 and AppleTV v5.0.1 (4224)

FC_installer.log enclosed

Where do I go from here, please?  Its really doing my head in now!

Thanks in advance…

Hi

Please can someone help me with the above issue, or let me know what I need to do to get a refund processed?

Thanks.

This is NOT an UNTETHERED solution, like I have read, and was under the impressive of during my frustration installation process(es).  After running Seas0nPass, you will need to do a TETHERED BOOT, and then after you see the Firecore menu on the ATV, you will need to run the ATV FLASH(BLACK).pkg installer from your desktop, and after that installs, the ATV2 will reboot back into the menu, this time without needing to be TETHER BOOTED, but now it is missing the MAINTENANCE menu, so you will need to do another TETHERED BOOT, after which time the MAINTENANCE menu will appear on the second row, and you can use the device as normal from this point forward(at least as far as I can tell).

If you are having to do a tethered boot then you do to have the latest jailbreak installed.

I have the latest firmware and the latest Seas0nPass and the latest ATV FLash… and according to this page, it is UNTETHERED: http://support.firecore.com/entries/387605

The latest version of SeasonPass no longer has the tethered boot option (its greyed out) because it’s no longer required.

See this blog post for details: Seas0nPass Cuts the Cord for 5.0.1 | Firecore

Can anyone help me with my query in thread #10 ???

PLEASE?

I had the same problem (no maintenance icon) after installing aTV flash black. Unplugged the itv to let it re-boot and everything seems to be working now.

agree with Morris - same thing just happened to me. Brand new ATV2, fresh jailbreak for 5.0.2, purchase of ATV Flash Black today, jailbreak went fine, firecore icon appeared, ATV Flash Black install went fine, saw the ATV restart, but no maintenance menu. Found this forum, and as per Morris’ suggestion, unplugged the ATV, plugged it back in, and the maintenance menu appeared within the icon block. All good!
